Flights to Paris: Airlines, Airports, and How to Get the Best Fare
Everything you need to know about booking flights to Paris — which airport to choose, what airlines fly there, typical fares by season, and practical booking tips.

Paris is the most visited city in the world, and the air routes reflect it. Two major airports, airlines from every alliance, and year-round service from cities across the globe. The competition keeps fares reasonable — if you know where to look.
Paris has two airports — pick the right one
Charles de Gaulle (CDG)
Paris’s main international airport. 25 km northeast of the city center. Three terminals. This is where virtually all long-haul flights arrive. Air France’s global hub. American, Delta, United, Emirates, and dozens of other international carriers operate here.
Getting to central Paris: RER B train to Châtelet-Les Halles (35 minutes, €11.50), Roissybus to Opéra (60 minutes, €16), taxi (45-75 minutes depending on traffic, flat rate €56 to Right Bank or €65 to Left Bank).
Best for: Long-haul international flights, connections within Europe on full-service carriers.
Orly (ORY)
Paris’s second airport. 13 km south of the city center. Smaller and closer to the city than CDG. Mix of domestic French routes, European short-haul, some budget carriers (Transavia, easyJet), and select medium-haul destinations (North Africa, Middle East).
Getting to central Paris: Orly Bus to Denfert-Rochereau (30 minutes, €11), OrlyVal + RER B (40 minutes, €14), taxi (25-45 minutes, flat rate €37 to Left Bank or €44 to Right Bank).
Best for: European budget flights, domestic French routes, North African destinations.
Beauvais (BVA)
Technically 85 km from Paris. Used by Ryanair and Wizz Air. The bus to Paris takes 75+ minutes and costs €17. Only consider this if the fare savings are significant enough to justify the detour.

From North America
| Route | Airlines | Typical economy fare |
|---|---|---|
| JFK → CDG | Air France, Delta, La Compagnie | $350-700 |

The JFK-CDG route is one of the busiest transatlantic routes in the world. Air France and Delta (joint venture partners) alone operate 5+ daily frequencies. La Compagnie offers an all-business-class service on this route at roughly half the price of legacy business class.
From Europe
Paris is connected to virtually every European city. Air France, easyJet, Vueling, and Transavia cover the high-frequency routes. The Eurostar from London (2h15) and Thalys from Brussels (1h22) compete directly with flights on these routes.
From Asia and the Middle East
Air France operates long-haul from Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, and more. Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad connect through their Gulf hubs with competitive fares. Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific also serve CDG.
When flights to Paris are cheapest
Cheapest months: January-March and November. Transatlantic round trips from the US East Coast can drop to $300-400.
Most expensive: June-September (peak tourism season), Christmas/New Year. Expect $700-1,200+ round trip.
Shoulder seasons: April-May and October. Great weather, moderate crowds, and fares in the $400-600 range.
Paris-specific tip: Avoid Fashion Week periods (late February/early March and late September) if you’re budget-conscious — hotel prices spike and flight demand increases on certain routes.
Booking tips for Paris flights
Use the Air France-Delta joint venture to your advantage. These two airlines share inventory on transatlantic routes. Sometimes the exact same flight is priced differently depending on whether you book through Air France or Delta. Check both.
Consider flying into one airport, out of another. Fly into CDG on a long-haul, take the train to another European city, fly home from there. Multi-city itineraries on the same airline are often the same price as round trips.
Budget carriers connect at Orly. If you’re combining Paris with a European trip, Transavia (Air France’s budget arm) and easyJet offer cheap connections from Orly to destinations across Southern Europe.
Eurostar as an alternative. If you’re already in London, the Eurostar (2h15, from £40 one-way) is often faster and cheaper than flying when you factor in airport time. Book early for the best fares.
Book 6-10 weeks out for the best transatlantic fares. Similar to London, the sweet spot for Paris flights is 2-3 months before departure.
